(LESSON 7) UNIT 2 – THE BRITISH MONARCHY

Here are the documents to be studied before the next lesson (in the order given below)

1/ MEMORISE THE VOCABULARY:

    • Revise the vocabulary: use the words in sentences.
    • Memorise VOCABULARY 4, UNIT 2, page 9-10.

2/ GRAMMAR:

  • Catch up with all the exercises from GR1 to GR6
  • Read GR7
  • Create an index card for GR7
  • Do the exercises in your grammar book.
  • Revise the irregular verbs: part 1 to 7

3/ TRANSLATION 5 in your TRANSLATION Booklet

4/ READING & WRITING: UNIT 2, page 5 & 6

5/ GENERAL KNOWLEDGE: Watch films and series in English. Try to choose them so as to discover more about the English-speaking world. (Here are some ideas: Suffragette, Selma, Killers of the Flower Moon (this film is now showing in cinemas).

Mock Oral Exams – MOE 3 :

  • As explained before MOE 3, I insist on the fact that you should read the “Carnet de khôlles” thoroughly because you will find all the explanations needed to be ready for your next MOE.

This Week’s Mock Oral Exams: MOE 2 (MOE = khôlle)

Visit the padlet: the three students have to be there the full hour. It is essential to memorize the vocabulary.

Lesson 6 :  UNIT 2 – The British Monarchy

Activities:

  • Submission of the translation

  • Video : Watch and take notes. According to Waleed Aly, what are the main assets of a monarchy ? of a republic ? What solution does he suggest to replace the British monarch?
  • Discuss about your findings

4/ Read GR6 (GRAMMAR BOOKLET) + create a revision card + do all the exercises in unit 15 + (finish the two first exercises of unit 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14.)

5/ LINKWORDS: read the list UNIT 2, p.7 and practise p.8

6/ Watch the video again and be ready to speak about the three different systems mentioned by the TV host.

– practise making sentences to speak about Manifest Destiny and the conquest of space be it in the 19th century or nowadays.
